GENERATIONAL TRANSITION – Finnish family businesses can continue

Our company has recently undergone a generational handover, as a result of which ownership of the Tervolan Saha ja Höyläämö Oy group has passed to the six children of the entrepreneurial couple Lea and Juha Kokkonen: Henri Kokkonen (left), Samuli Kokkonen, Juho-Heikki Kokkonen, Saara-Kaisa Parkkinen, Elina Alamäki and Mikael Kokkonen. Following the generational handover, Hannu-Pekka Kokkonen (right) will also continue as the new owner of the forestry machinery company Metsä Kokkonen Oy.

The new generation of successors accept their responsibilities with humility and gratitude. The companies’ values, traditions and expertise built up over decades are carried forward as operations are developed with a view to new generations and future opportunities, both at the sawmill and in the forest. For us, the generational handover is a significant and valuable step – at the same time, it reflects trust, a long-term perspective and a desire to continue the work we have built together well into the future.

Tervolan Saha ja Höyläämö Oy has been owned by the same family for 70 years – now in its third generation – and Metsä Kokkonen Oy for 20 years – now in its second generation. We will be celebrating these generational transitions and the companies’ anniversaries in September with a celebration and an open-day event.

A warm thank you to our staff, customers and partners for their trust. This is a great foundation on which to continue our journey together. We will carry on working as we have done until now, guided by the same values and with the same passion.
